Who in town has those crazy rare skills to fix a shirt with a hole, a pair of shoes, a bracelet, a wetsuit, a surfboard, a MacBook, a broken lamp, a dishwasher or a washing machine?
Tailor in Ericeira
I do not know how, but it always happens that after 2 months, I have at least 5 pieces of clothing that need “just a stitch,” or I buy too many not-perfect clothes and want them adjusted.
My Siberian (yes!) saviour in despair has been Yaroslava from "Just a Stitch" for over a year now. However, when I told her about Erijoy in December, she was like: no, I don’t take on any new clothing customers - I focus on curtains now because it’s more profitable. So yea, if you need curtains or other bigger jobs, go ask her.
Nice thing is, her home/tailor studio is at the same time also a second-hand shop, hehe. So almost every time I go there, I also get a new piece of clothing for €5. She recommended me for example the dress with red poppies below, which I would not have chosen myself, but got compliments for it later on. Sometimes you need that outside perspective to discover a totally new set of colours/styles for ya <3
She gets all these second-hand clothes from customers; so yes you can bring your no longer wanted stuff also to her. If you have some clearly unusable fcked up ones, then there is also a clothing container next to the church in town here.
Plus, can you please be that 1 more person, who tells her to raise her hourly price (it's €15/h right now). If you want to support her emotionally as well - come to one of the cosy-mosy Open Mic events that she organises ♥️
If you need small fixes and adjustments, you can try out a tailor in town that was recommended to me once, but haven't been there myself. I also heard a few times that all tailors in Ericeira seem to be quite busy - and that's why one friend likes to rely on this tailor who usually fixes stuff very quickly and lives about a 30-minute drive away from Ericeira. Can be useful if you need that wedding dress fixed asap, and you can check out the up-and-coming Santa Cruz when you are already there 🤓
Jewellery fixer in Ericeira
What else do girls need a fix for? All their shiny stuff. There’s a woman who makes her own jewellery, and she fixed my bracelet - for which the official jeweller didn’t even had a small enough tool to fix it.
In fact, this official jeweller next door recommended her to me. She doesn’t know yet about her new side hustle of fixing shiny things, but she was very happy she could help me, so give it a try to make her smile and drop by her shop called Ponta de canas.
Shoemaker in Ericeira
Shoooes - yes, girls need their shoes fixed. I had so much fun fixing my leather shoes that I already dedicated a page to shoemaker Manuel. But in short, yes, you can get your shoes fixed in central downtown close to Tubo - for example, changing soles for €23.
Also, there’s a woman in Ribamar who makes custom leather pieces (whatever you want). I was quite fascinated by her work at the Ribamar Christmas market. When I asked if she had a shop, she said: nooo, but just come here and knock on the white door here - that’s where I work. No joke - apparently, leather people rather like to live in peaceful solitude. Good luck with that geocache!
MacBook/iPhone/Apple repair in Ericeira
If girls have no strong IT guy around, they may also need help with their shiny Apple stuff. As far as I’ve heard, the Kelp Coworking crew recommends going to Lisbon to the www.mrepair.pt guys to get your most valuable piece fixed - rather than relying on beach town skills.
Surfboard and wetsuit repair in Ericeira
But maaaaybe your most valuable shiny piece is actually your surfboard (a wooden surfboard made in Eri?!). In case you ever fck it up, go see Bernabe for surfboard repairs (and wetsuit repairs). He's a nice guy and always offers a coffee :) I don't recommend these guys below (Dutch + Portuguese + British trio trying to establish another surfboard repair shop in Ericeira).
Electrician in Ericeira to fix small and big electricity issues
Who in the sea of handymen is specialised in electricity stuff and speaks English well? It's Bohdan - besides mounting lights, he is your wiring artist, your problem solver for all electricity things that require great imagination. Ping him here, and he'll come to save you (no joke).

PS: A male reader noted that I’m mostly helping helpless females with this article. He’d like to mention that for helpless men, a laundry guy called Sergio exists who washes, dries, and irons all your laundry in case you have no strong woman around to magically fix your dirty clothes. Cheeeeers!
