In short: Erijoy gets 18.5 % per booking 👹

The fun part first

I usually organise weekly padel games with 8 people at CoolGym. When we started out, I used to pay for the entire court and everyone sent me their share per Revolut afterwards. One friend somehow ended up joking about paying me a service fee for spending time on WhatsApp each week getting the players together ... who would have known that I actually get into the “service fee business” with this website.

How does Erijoy compare to other platforms?

Why 18.5 %?

Just to not have the lowest or highest fee in comparison to other platforms. And ... because I took the initial plane to Ericeira on 18.05.2022, doing the first tiny stupid step to live in “my perfect environment” ... and build this business. So this number means something to me.

I also really like Treatwell's approach of only taking a fee for new customers. To make it happen for this site, I would need some developer help (= more money) to differentiate between new and existing customer bookings automatically. Something for the future!

My initial motivation for this site was to promote healthy lunches (& existing sport groups). So in order to experiment with these food offerings as fast as possible, all service providers in those categories (healthy food packages and private chefs) will pay a reduced service fee of 12 %.

Why should I get a service fee?

Me working on this site means “doing the marketing” for the service providers, so that their spare hours/days get filled up. Also, making sure that the technical bits to book them are working easy-peasily and reliably. So that, in the end, they spend the least time possible in front of their computer but instead doing their actual work.

Wild-Svenja-theories

Making money also means I can experiment more, risk more. I have about 185 impact ideas/experiments in my mind. Also known as wild-Svenja-theories. I have 40 more years to “work” (aka solve problems; just which problems?), so I want to work on at least some of these wild theories 💃 One of them is starting a “library of things” → 

Some sort of container/Amazon-style locker would be useful to pick up second-hand stuff that you book/borrow via Erijoy. And at the same time also to pick up local new products, which sellers place in there, and you can pick up them up 24/7, no? So if I make money with this site, some will go into my pocket, but the most fun thing for me in the long run would be to do bring some of these ideas to reality.
